Communal tension has deepened after the killing of 22 -year -old nurse Swati Byadgi in Karnataka. The police arrested the main accused Nayaz after the post -mortem report confirmed the murder. On this matter, BJP MP Basavraj Bommai called it a case of ‘love jihad’ and questioned the Congress government about the safety of women.
How was Swati murdered?
- Swati marriage went missing on 3 March, after which her body was found near the Tungabhadra River in Fatehpur village.
- Swati was a resident of Masuru village in Haaveri district and worked as a nurse in Ranebennur.
- Police investigation revealed that there was a relationship between Swati and Nayaj and Nayaz promised to marry.
- However, Nayaj’s marriage was covered by another girl in his community, after which he started distance from Swati.
- When Swati threatened Nayaz that she would expose her to everyone, Nayaz conspired to kill her.

Two more accused involved in murder
The police officer said that two more accused in the case – Durgachari and Vinayak – were also involved.
- Both of them took Swati to the Tungabhadra River and helped Nayaz.
- Durgachari and Vinayak are absconding since the murder, whose search is on.
BJP attacks Congress government
BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai attacked the Congress government, strongly condemning the incident.
- “Love jihad network is active in Karnataka, and the fear of law in criminals is over.”
- “Ever since the Congress came to power, the security of women is in danger.”
- “Swati’s family needs to bring justice and punishment for the culprits.”
The BJP demanded that the state government give appropriate compensation to Swati’s family and ensure quick justice in this matter.
