Controversial statement of Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's first web series 'Hiramandi: The Diamond Bazaar' has been streamed on Netflix from May 1. At the Los Angeles premiere of the big-budget show, Bhansali talked about the film's casting. He said that instead of making a web series, he is going to make a film with Rekha, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rani Mukherjee. Not only this, he also talked about working with Pakistani artists in 'Hiramandi'. The director says that the idea of making 'Hiramandi' was in his mind for 18 years, but the story was so big that it was difficult to show it through a film.

While talking to Lilly Singh during the premiere, Sanjay Leela Bhansali said, '18 years ago when the idea of casting Rekhaji, Kareena and Rani Mukherjee came to my mind.' In this way, different names came to Bhansali's mind about three times regarding the casting of Hiramandi. But this name came to his mind when he was thinking of making the film 'Hiramandi'. Bhansali shared that at one point, Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, actors Fawad Khan and Imran Abbas were also considered for the show. In an earlier conversation, Imran had opened up about playing a character in Bhansali's show. He said, “I did not refuse, but it was stopped at that time.” Imran also told that he was rejected for the role of Aditya Roy Kapur in the film 'Guzaarish'.
