Delhi Assembly Elections: The party is under tension due to the derogatory statements of veteran BJP leader and former MP Ramesh Bidhuri, who is contesting from Kalkaji seat in the Delhi Assembly elections. The Election Commission has also opposed this, now the party can take action against Bidhuri. It is known that this issue is being discussed in the party.

Bidhuri’s statements tarnished BJP’s image

Bidhuri made derogatory remarks against Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi and later Atishi. This has tarnished the image of BJP in Delhi including the parliamentary constituency. According to media reports, to improve this image, BJP can field a woman candidate by canceling Bidhuri’s ticket.

Consent to cancel Bidhuri’s ticket

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi is also going to contest elections from Kalkaji seat. After Bidhuri’s statement, at least two meetings of the BJP organization have been held. In which he has agreed to cancel his ticket. Bidhuri, a two-time MP and three-time MLA from South Delhi, is a veteran leader of the Gurjar community. A BJP source said that due to Bidhuri’s statement against Atishi and Priyanka Gandhi, party president J. P. Nadda has also reprimanded him. Also, consideration is being given to giving ticket from Kalkaji to a woman in her place.

Election Commissioner also opposed Bidhuri

Yesterday, after the announcement of Delhi Assembly election dates, Election Commission Commissioner Rajiv Kumar criticized Bidhuri’s anti-women statements, calling them very low level statements. He also said that the burden of taking action against him has been left on the voters. In order to avoid defeat from Kalkaji seat, BJP will also cancel Bidhuri’s ticket and give ticket to a woman candidate in her place.
