Drinking water after eating peanuts can imbalance the body temperature, due to which the person may suffer from cold, cough and other respiratory problems. This is just like drinking cold water after returning from the hot sun in the summer season.
Ayurvedic approach
According to Ayurveda, the balance of the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) is important in the digestive system. Due to the hot nature and heaviness of peanuts, drinking water immediately after eating it can hinder the digestion process. It is advised in Ayurveda that after eating peanuts one should not eat anything for at least 20 minutes.
Disadvantages of drinking water immediately after eating peanuts

- Acidity and stomach irritation: Drinking water after eating peanuts suddenly cools down the heat in the stomach, which can cause acidity or burning sensation in the stomach.
