New Delhi, July 31 (HS). Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Wednesday that the construction of India's longest Greenfield Expressway, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, will be completed by October 2025.
Union Minister Gadkari in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has taken up the construction work of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway including spurs in 53 packages having a length of 1,386 km. He said that a total of 26 packages have been completed till June 2024. The physical progress of the work is 82 per cent and construction work of a total length of 1,136 km has been completed. He said that the revised scheduled completion date is October, 2025.
Gadkari said the corridor provides connectivity to major economic centres of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. According to the detailed project report (DPR), the proposed route involves a reduction of about 180 km in the distance from Delhi to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) and up to 50 per cent reduction in travel time to connected destinations.
