Construction of 21 km long tunnel begins in Mumbai

The work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream project and the country's first bullet train is going on at a fast pace. Bullet train work has also been expedited in Mumbai. The bullet train running from Ahmedabad to Mumbai runs at height or on the ground till Sheel Phata in Thane, but from Sheel Phata to BKC it is going to pass through underground tunnel.

This distance of 21 km will be completely underground. Seven km of it will also be under the sea. For the first time in the country, a train will run under the sea.

Blasting was done in Vikhroli, BKC and Sheel Phata on Friday to build a 21 km long tunnel. After blasting in Vikhroli, excavation was started with tunnel boring machine. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav was present at the time of blasting. The country's first bullet will pass through a 21 kilometer long tunnel in Mumbai. After Gujarat, now work regarding Bullet Train has intensified in Maharashtra also. Shaft-1 is being constructed at a depth of 36 meters at the Mumbai High Speed ​​Railway Station in Bandra, where the second piling work was completed in the first week of February, now only the excavation work is going on. Whereas Shaft-2 in Vikhroli is 36 meters deep. Piling work has been completed in that also.

Two tunnel boring machines will be commissioned

Both shafts will be used to drive two tunnel boring machines in opposite directions. One will move towards BKC and the other towards Dhansoli. Excavation of 39 meter deep shaft-3 is underway at Savli near Dhansoli, while work on the portal at the site at the end of the tunnel at Sheel Phata has started.
