Jaipur, 7 September (HS). Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that conservation of nature is the collective responsibility of all of us. Nature continuously gives gifts to mankind in some form or the other. In return, we should also contribute to nature conservation by limited use of natural resources and tree plantation. He said that we can bring about a big change by small efforts like preventing the wastage of water, taking food in the plate as per requirement and sharing the means of transport.
Sharma was addressing the function organized on the occasion of the fifth Clean Air Day at Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Center on Saturday. He said that the United Nations General Assembly has declared 7 September as the International Day of Clean Air for the Blue Sky. Its purpose is to raise awareness and encourage action to improve air quality. Mr. Sharma said that it is very important for us to take these steps to keep our present and future safe and life healthy. We all should perform our duty as aware citizens and become partners in the efforts of the government to reduce air pollution.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is working with commitment towards environmental protection. Taking inspiration from the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign run by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister's Plantation Maha Abhiyan has been started in the state on World Environment Day, under which more than seven crore saplings have been planted and a target has been set to plant 50 crore saplings in five years. Also, an investment of four thousand crore rupees is being made in five years under Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan. Sharma said that it has also been decided to present the state's green budget from the next year with the principle of green growth and environmental protection in all development schemes in the state. Also, 1000 electric buses will soon be operated in big cities for the concept of pollution free Rajasthan.
Sharma said that under the National Clean Air Program, a state level action plan has been prepared to solve the problem of air pollution in the state. An urban action plan has also been prepared for the five most polluted cities. He said that in compliance with the orders issued by the Air Quality Management Commission to reduce air pollution in the eastern region of Rajasthan, especially the NCR region, this year the level of air pollution has reduced significantly compared to previous years with the coordination of Commission for NCR and various departments. Sharma said that Rajasthan Pollution Control Board has also established air quality monitoring stations, measurement of air quality through mobile vans, online pollution monitoring system in more than 600 industries. He said that out of the 13 laboratories of the Pollution Control Board in the state, five laboratories have been modernized. Also, 11 new laboratories are also being established. Weather and Pollution Forecasting System has been started for air quality monitoring in Jaipur, which will also be started in other cities.
Addressing the program, Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Yadav said that the objective of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mission Life is to conserve nature by adopting an environment-friendly lifestyle. He said that environmental pollution has been reduced in 131 cities of the country through joint efforts of innovation and use of technology. The Union Minister said that the Government of India is working on seven different subjects through the Ideas for Life program. He also praised the tree plantation campaign run on the initiative of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma in Rajasthan. During this, nine cities of the country were also given awards in three categories (large, medium and small cities) under the Clean Air Survey.
Minister of State for Urban Development and Self Governance (Independent Charge) Jhabar Singh Kharra, Minister of State for Forest, Environment and Climate Change (Independent Charge) Sanjay Sharma, Special Secretary Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Tanmay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Forest, Environment and Climate Change Aparna Arora, Additional Secretary Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Nareshpal Gangwar, along with a large number of environmentalists and common people were present in the program.
