After the incident, deceased Manik Rai's wife Swapna Rai has filed a written complaint in Maynaguri police station against 11 people. Police have arrested a total of five people so far. The search for the rest has begun.
According to sources, on Wednesday late night, some people attacked and vandalized the house of Congress worker Manik over an old dispute. After this, Manik was taken out of the house and tied to a tree and beaten up. Due to which he was badly injured. On receiving the information of the incident, the police of Maynaguri police station reached the spot and recovered Manik in a bloody condition and took him to Maynaguri Rural Hospital. Where the doctors on duty referred him to Jalpaiguri Super Specialty Hospital. Where Manik died during treatment at around 3:30 am on Thursday morning. After the incident, Manik Rai's wife Swapna Rai filed a written complaint in Maynaguri police station against 11 people. On the basis of the complaint, the police arrested Narayan Rai, Narayan Rai, Rajkumar Rai, Mithun Das and Dilip Rai. The police of Maynaguri police station has started investigating the entire incident.
