New Delhi, 09 October (Hindustan Reporter). A Congress delegation met the Election Commission on Wednesday to lodge complaints regarding the counting of votes in Haryana. The party raised the issue of EVM batteries with the commission along with other issues. The party says that the Commission has heard their complaints and has promised appropriate action.

Addressing journalists outside the Election Commission office, Congress leader Pawan Khera said that he has received complaints related to vote counting from 20 assembly constituencies. Today, the party has provided written documents to the Commission on complaints related to 7 of these areas. The party will soon meet the Commission again regarding the remaining complaints.

Pawan Khera said that complaints of EVM malfunction have been received from seven assembly constituencies, Karnal, Dabwali, Rewari, Panipat City, Hodal, Kalka and Narnaul. In some EVMs the battery was 90 percent and in the rest the battery was normal, in which the battery was 90 percent, BJP has won. He said that apart from this, the Election Commission will provide the remaining 13 complaints within 48 hours. The Congress delegation also included state president Uday Bhan, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Congress leaders KC Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh, Ajay Maken. Apart from this, Abhishek Manu Singhvi was connected online.

Pawan Kheda said that we have given complaints to the Election Commission and the Commission said that they will give a written reply regarding these complaints. We have demanded before the Commission that the EVMs about which complaints have been received should be sealed until the investigation is done. Haryana Pradesh Congress President Udaybhan said that there are complaints that BJP is winning in EVMs where more than 90 percent of the batteries are in EVMs. BJP is not winning in the places where EVMs were showing 60 to 70 percent battery. We demanded matching of VVPAT slips during voting but it was not accepted.

Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda said that the result of Haryana is surprising for everyone. Everyone was predicting the victory of Congress.

It is noteworthy that yesterday the Congress Party had described the results of Haryana Assembly elections as unexpected and unacceptable. The party said that the results are surprising. It seems that this is the victory of the system and the defeat of democracy. We cannot accept this defeat.
