Congress reached Raj Bhavan against BJP government, did not meet the Governor

Chandigarh, May 10 (HS). Congress, which had come to meet the Governor against the BJP government of Haryana, had to return after submitting a memorandum to his Secretary instead of the Governor. Congress has backed out from forming government in Haryana. The opposition party Congress claimed to have majority but refused to form the government. Deputy leader of Congress Legislature Party Chaudhary Aftab Ahmed and Chief Whip Bharat Bhushan Batra reached Haryana Raj Bhavan on Friday evening. Congress demanded the dismissal of the BJP government and imposition of President's rule in the state and holding of assembly elections.

The Governor left on his personal visit 15 minutes before Aftab Ahmed and Bharat Bhushan Batra reached Haryana Raj Bhavan. These two Congress leaders handed over a letter from opposition leader Bhupendra Hooda to the Governor's Secretary, in which it was said that the BJP government is running in minority. He no longer has the majority, hence the state government should be dismissed and President's rule should be imposed in the state. Congress has also given an option to the Governor. On behalf of Bhupendra Hooda, it was said that if the Governor does not dismiss the BJP government nor impose President's rule, then Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini should be asked to prove his majority by calling a special session of the Assembly.

While talking to journalists at Chandigarh headquarters, Aftab Ahmed and Bharat Bhushan Batra said that we are not in favor of horse trading of MLAs. 30 Congress MLAs, 10 JJP, four independents and one INLD MLA (total 45) are with us. The ruling BJP is said to have 43 MLAs, which is two less than the majority. Therefore the BJP government has no constitutional right to remain in power. The minority BJP government cannot even take any policy decisions.

Congress Legislature Party's Chief Whip Bharat Bhushan Batra said that there is no such provision that once a government proves the trust vote, a no-confidence motion cannot be brought against it for the next six months. Legislature party's deputy leader Aftab Ahmed said that if the Governor asks, we are ready to hold a parade of all the 30 MLAs of our party at Raj Bhavan. In response to a question, both the Congress leaders said that we will not form the government for three months. Doing this will lead to horse trading of MLAs. Therefore, we reached Raj Bhavan and demanded the dismissal of the BJP government of the state and imposition of President's rule in the state.
