Why did Congress Party bring 'Labor Justice'?
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said in a post on 'X', why has the Congress party brought 'Labor Justice'? The real labor growth rate was less than 1% per year between 2014-15 and 2021-22 under the Modi government. It was just 0.9% for agricultural workers, just 0.2% for construction workers, and just 0.3% for non-agricultural workers.
He claimed that during the second term of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), real agricultural and non-agricultural rural labor grew at an annual rate of 8.6% and 6.9% respectively. In contrast, the growth rate of real rural labor has turned negative for both agricultural (-0.6%) and non-agricultural rural labor (-1.4%) in the second term of the Modi government.
Kharge alleged that the Modi government has taken away the 'right to work' from 7 crore people in the last two years by making payment through Aadhaar mandatory in MNREGA. Referring to the five guarantees given under the 'Labor Justice' of the Congress Party, he said, 'The situation will worsen.'
