Senior Congress MLA Sunny Joseph in Kerala has demanded a law to be made to allow them to cook instead of burying them after killing wild boars. He said that if the Congress -led Joint Democratic Front (UDF) comes to power, it will bring laws to allow wild boar meat to cook.
“Current law inappropriate, need for change”
Paravur MLA Sunny Joseph recently criticized the current laws related to wild boars during the protest march called ‘Malayora Samara Yatra’ of UDF. He said that “Right now, wild pigs killed with licensed weapons are buried by putting kerosene, which is absolutely unfair.”
“Only one license weapon, how will farmers save crops in the entire panchayat?”
Joseph questioned the practicality of the current law and said that:
“License firearms are required to kill wild boars, but only one person has licensed weapons in the entire Kottayur Panchayat. In such a situation, how will farmers protect their crops? “
He further said that even if a farmer kills a wild boar, he has to be buried by putting kerosene under the rules. Taking a dig at this, he said:
“In my opinion, the wild boar should be cooked in coconut oil. I am openly saying this. “

While making this statement, Congress MLA Sunny Joseph is accompanied by Leader of Opposition VD Satishan and Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President K.K. Several senior leaders including Sudhakaran were present.
The UDF organized this protest march to highlight the growing attacks of wildlife and the financial problems of farmers in the hilly areas of Kerala.
