Bharatiya Janata Party claims that when the entire national anthem was being sung, the Congress leadership signaled to stop it midway. Addressing a public program in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed strong objection to this incident and demanded the Congress Party to apologize to the people of the country and Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. He said that thousands of freedom fighters had kissed the noose and taken bullets while shouting slogans of ‘Vande Mataram’, but in the greed for vote bank, Congress did not do justice to this immortal song. The Home Minister said that 140 crore people of the country are watching this act and such decisions will never be forgiven.

Congress party’s counterattack and clarification

Responding to these serious allegations of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress Party has completely refuted and termed these claims as politically motivated. Congress leaders say that the party fully respects the national anthem and no rules were violated in the Independence Day programme. The party also clarified that during the program, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was standing for a long time, and only general discussions or instructions were being given by senior leaders regarding his seating arrangement, which has been given a wrong color by the BJP.
