Varanasi, 21 May (HS). Congress officials celebrated the 33rd death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on Tuesday. The leaders gathered at the Central Election Office of State Congress President and India Alliance candidate from Varanasi Ajay Rai in Lahurabir, paid homage to the portrait of the former Prime Minister and mentioned his development work.

The speakers said that no country can achieve its full development until its women power is connected to the mainstream of development. We have to accept this truth with honesty. The party's metropolitan president Raghavendra Choubey said in the tribute meeting that those who worship the mother power today need to learn from politicians like Rajiv Gandhi. Rajiv Gandhi did important works like women reservation, presence of women in Panchayati Raj, reducing the voting age from 21 to 18 years, digitalization of India, computerization during his tenure. On the death anniversary, Congress leaders garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi located at Maidagin intersection. Fasahaat Hussain Babu, Dr. Rajendra Gupta, Arun Soni, Riyaz Ahmed Bablu, Dr. Nripendra Narayan Singh, Vikas Koundilya, Anubhav Rai, Rohit Dubey, Jitendra Mishra etc. were present in the tribute meeting.
