Former Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh Lovely joined BJP on Saturday. Lovely has recently resigned from the post of Delhi Congress President. Like Lovely, four-time MLA and two-time cabinet minister Rajkumar Chauhan, two-time MLA and former Congress secretary Naseeb Singh, former MLA Neeraj Basoa, former Youth Congress president Amit Malik also joined the BJP.
Lovely had also accused the party of negligence. Lovely had said that the party high command was taking decisions on many things without consulting him. Arvinder Singh Lovely has been MLA 4 times and cabinet minister in Delhi twice. Congress had handed over the responsibility of Delhi Congress to him last year, but amidst the elections, he has once again decided to leave the Congress.
During the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections in 2017, Arvinder Singh Lovely left Congress and joined BJP. However, at that time he could not stay in BJP for long and returned home within 10-12 months. He also contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from East Delhi, although he had to face defeat that time. Now Arvinder Singh Lovely has once again joined BJP.
In his resignation letter sent to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, Lovely said that the Aam Aadmi Party, many of whose ministers are in jail on corruption charges, had formed an alliance with him in the Lok Sabha elections, even though party workers had opposed it. Lovely further said that he can no longer protect the interests of party workers and hence he is not interested in continuing as Delhi Congress President.
