After the demise of former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh, a controversy has arisen regarding the site of his funeral. Congress has raised objection against the plan of cremation at Nigam Bodh Ghat in Delhi. The party believes that such a big leader of the country should get more respect than this.

Congress President Kharge wrote a letter to PM Modi

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealing to build a memorial for Dr. Manmohan Singh in Delhi and perform his last rites at the same site.
Kharge said in the letter:
“Manmohan Singh should be cremated only where his memorial can be built, so that his memory can be cherished with respect.”

Congress shared this letter on social media and wrote:
“The Congress President has urged the Prime Minister and the Home Minister that the true tribute to India’s son Sardar Manmohan Singh would be to cremate him and establish a memorial.”

Congress Working Committee expressed deep condolences

The Congress Working Committee expressed deep condolences on the demise of the former Prime Minister.
Top leaders of the party attended the meeting chaired by Mallikarjun Kharge, prominent among whom were Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Jairam Ramesh.
