Bhopal, 23 March (HS). Congress Party has declared the names of its candidates for 12 seats in Madhya Pradesh for the Lok Sabha elections. Arun Srivastava from Bhopal and former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh from Rajgarh have been made candidates. Whereas, Kantilal Bhuria has been given ticket from Ratlam Lok Sabha seat. Congress has so far declared its candidates for 22 out of 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh, while seven seats are still on hold. Congress has so far given ticket to one woman while fielding five sitting MLAs, one MP and one Rajya Sabha MP.
The All India Congress Committee has released its fourth list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections late on Saturday night. In this, names of 45 candidates have been announced. This list includes candidates for 12 seats in Madhya Pradesh. Former CM Digvijay Singh has been made the candidate from Rajgarh seat. Rajgarh is considered to be the stronghold of Digvijay Singh and after 33 years he will contest the Lok Sabha elections from this seat. In the last Lok Sabha elections, Congress had fielded him from Bhopal but he was badly defeated by BJP candidate Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur.
Congress has fielded former Union Minister Kantilal Bhuria from Ratlam seat. Tickets were given to Akshay Bam from Indore, Samrat Saraswat from Balaghat and Dinesh Yadav from Jabalpur. MLA Mahesh Parmar from Tarana, Ujjain and former MLA Dilip Singh Gurjar from Mandsaur have been made candidates.
Chandrabhushan Singh has made Guddu Raja Bundela the candidate from Sagar. He had joined Congress before the assembly elections. He was preparing to contest elections from Khurai but was not given the ticket. At the same time, Neelam Abhay Mishra has been fielded from Rewa. Neelam is the wife of Congress MLA from Semaria, Abhay Mishra. Phundelal Singh Marco will be the candidate from Shahdol, who is the MLA from Pushparajgarh. Former Tendukheda MLA Sanjay Sharma has been fielded from Hoshangabad.
Congress has declared Arun Srivastava as its candidate for Bhopal Lok Sabha seat. He is considered a supporter of former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh. According to Madhya Pradesh Congress sources, Arun has been given the ticket by the party's Central Election Committee after discussion with Congress leader Digvijay. He is the Bhopal District Rural Congress President.
Sources say that the matter regarding Guna Lok Sabha seat is complicated. Former state Congress president Arun Yadav has expressed his desire to contest elections from here, whereas there is no consensus on his name at the local level, due to which a decision has not been taken yet regarding the candidate for this seat. At the same time, brainstorming is going on regarding the candidates of Morena, Gwalior, Damoh, Khandwa and Vidisha.
The party has placed bets on two MLAs for the Lok Sabha elections. Phundelal Singh Marco from Pushprajgarh and Mahesh Parmar from Tarana are currently MLAs. In the first list, tickets were given to Phool Singh Baraiya, Siddharth Kushwaha and Omkar Singh Markam.
