List of Congress candidates: The Congress on Monday released its first list of nine candidates for the three-phase assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The Congress has fielded party general secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir from Doru and former state president Viqar Rasool Wani from Banihal.
Congress has released the list after reaching an agreement on seat sharing with its ally National Conference. National Conference and Congress have agreed to contest 51 and 32 seats respectively in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
The party has fielded Surinder Singh Channi from Tral seat, Amanullah Mantu from Devsar, Peerzada Mohammad Syed from Anantnag, Sheikh Zafarullah from Inderwal, Nadeem Sharif from Bhaderwah, Sheikh Riyaz from Doda and Pradeep Kumar Bhagat from Doda West.
The first phase of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held on September 18, while the second phase will be held on September 25 and the third phase on October 1. Counting of votes will take place on October 4.
