Congress attacks Kejriwal’s letter to RSS chief: “Look inside your heart”

Sandeep Dikshit And Arvind Kejri

The letter written by Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has created a stir in politics. Delhi Congress has given a sharp reaction to this letter. Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav and former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s son Sandeep Dikshit have made direct attacks on Kejriwal.

Devendra Yadav: “You should also look at yourself”

Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav partially justified the issues of Kejriwal’s letter but raised questions on the policies and working style of the AAP government.

  • Allegation: Yadav said that the AAP government is cheating the public by giving false promises and guarantees.
  • Question on divisive politics: He said that there should be no place for politics in the name of religion, region and caste in the country.
  • Counterattack on government facilities: Yadav also took a dig at the lifestyle of AAP leaders, saying that those who were earlier denied accommodation in three rooms and vehicles and security, are now collecting bigger vehicles and more security facilities.

Sandeep Dixit’s counterattack: “Why dialogue with RSS?”

Congress leader and New Delhi candidate Sandeep Dixit raised questions on Kejriwal’s letter, saying that this letter exposes his close relations with the RSS.

  • Targeting RSS: He asked, “Why was the letter written to RSS? Does Kejriwal have direct connection with RSS? The letter should have been written to Congress or BJP present in the opposition.”
  • Allegation of links with RSS: Dixit said, “You yourself have admitted that your father had links with RSS. Even during the India Against Corruption movement, there was direct friendship between AAP and RSS. Kejriwal brings out his reality again and again.”
  • Allegation of being an RSS agent: Dikshit claimed that Kejriwal is actually an agent of the RSS and ultimately returns to its ideology.

Congress attacked AAP’s ideology

Sandeep Dixit said that those who call the ideology of RSS anti-national are asking questions of themselves.

  • “Allegation of becoming a Sanghi”: He said, “One who is a Sanghi, always remains a Sanghi. It is clear from the letter written to RSS that if there is any Sanghi party after BJP, it is the Aam Aadmi Party.”
  • Accusation of double standards on you: Dixit said that you call yourself a supporter of the public but your politics and ideology are inspired by Sanghi mentality.

Congress’s comprehensive attack on AAP

Congress leaders accused AAP of adopting double standards and misleading the public.

  • Difference between promises and reality: Devendra Yadav said that the AAP government has failed to fulfill its promises.
  • Greed for facilities: Questioning the lifestyle of AAP leaders, he said that the leaders who earlier claimed simplicity are now availing all the facilities.

Kejriwal’s letter and upcoming elections

This letter of Kejriwal has become the center of political battle before the Delhi Assembly elections. Both Congress and BJP have taken this as an opportunity to question AAP’s political intentions.

While on one hand Aam Aadmi Party has to make claims of distancing itself from RSS, on the other hand the allegations of Congress and BJP are making the electoral equations more interesting.
