New Delhi: After falling behind the 400 mark in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP managed to form the government, but the decline that started since then has reached the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. After the end of voting in Haryana on Saturday, the exit poll figures of both the states have come out. As expected, Congress is winning in Haryana in the exit polls, while in Jammu and Kashmir there is a deadlock as no party is getting majority.
According to most exit polls, Congress is getting a clear majority in Haryana, whereas in Jammu and Kashmir, the alliance of Congress and National Conference (NC) may emerge as the largest party, but will not be able to get majority. , according to exit polls. The majority number of seats to form the government in both Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir is 46.
In Haryana, more than 60 percent voting took place on all 90 seats in a single phase on Saturday. In this election, BJP is eyeing a hat-trick of continuous power while Congress is desperate to take over the reins of power after a decade. A total of 1,031 candidates are in the fray in Haryana, including 101 women and 464 independent candidates. In Haryana, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, Anil Vij, OP Dhankhar, while in Congress all eyes are on Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Vinesh Phogat, INA Laddi's Abhay Singh Chautala and JJP's Dushyant Chautala.
According to the Republic-Matrix survey, Congress may get 55 to 62 seats in the 90-seat Haryana Assembly, while BJP may get only 18 to 24 seats. Similarly, in the Red Mic-Datanch exit poll, Congress has got 50-55 seats and BJP has got 20-25 seats. In Dhruv Research, Congress has been given 50 to 64 seats and BJP has been given 22 to 32 seats.
According to People's Pulse exit poll, Congress will win 49-60 seats while BJP will win only 20-32 seats. Most of the exit polls show Congress getting a clear majority in Haryana, while BJP is estimated to get less than 30 seats.
Even though the Congress-NC alliance may become the largest party in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP is also hoping to form the government in the Union Territory. However, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah termed the exit polls as mere 'time pass'. On the other hand, BJP state president Ravindra Raina said that his party has contested the elections with full strength.
Omar Abdullah said that even after the exit poll fiasco in the Lok Sabha elections, news of exit polls are running on all channels, social media, WhatsApp, which I find surprising. Actually, the election results will be revealed only on Tuesday, October 8. Everything else is pass time.
Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Ravindra Raina said that his party fought with full force. We are confident that BJP will emerge as the largest party when the results are declared on Tuesday. The BJP leadership including PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and National President JP Nadda enjoys huge public support. Meanwhile, People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Naeem Akhtar said that exit polls are not reliable and it is too early to talk about government formation. We have seen many exit polls getting it wrong, including the recent Lok Sabha elections.
In the 90-seat Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, C-Water and India Today's survey estimates that the National Conference and Congress alliance will get 40 to 48 seats and the BJP will get 27 to 32 seats. According to People's Pulse, NC-Congress may get 46-50 seats, BJP may get 23-27 seats, while according to Republic Gulistan, NC-Congress may get 31-36 seats and BJP may get 28-30 seats. Most of the exit polls have shown PDP getting only five to 12 seats. However, according to sources, PDP's role can be very important if there is a deadlock in Jammu and Kashmir.
