Conditional bail granted to the inspector accused of conspiracy to demand bribe of twenty thousand rupees

Prayagraj, 29 July (HS). Allahabad High Court has granted conditional bail to Varanasi Police Sub Inspector Jhillu Ram. He is accused of conspiracy to take twenty thousand rupees bribe for filing a report.

Co-accused Surya Prakash was caught red-handed with the bribe money during a police trap. This order has been given by Justice Rajiv Mishra.

It is known that Jai Shankar complained to SSP against the petitioner. He said that he is not able to construct the house. On which the petitioner was asked to submit a report. It was complained that the petitioner has demanded a bribe of twenty thousand rupees for giving a report in his favour. On 2 May 24, the police trap team caught the co-accused red handed with the bribe amount and in-charge trap team Rakesh Bahadur registered a named FIR against two accused on 3 May in Police Station Anti Corruption, Varanasi. The investigation officer filed a charge sheet on 26 June 24.

The petitioner said that he had filed the report on 19 April 24 before the complaint. Therefore, there was no question of demanding bribe. He has been falsely implicated. He has no criminal history. There is an allegation of conspiracy against the petitioner. Whereas there is no case against him. This is a question of evidence, which will be decided in the trial. The court said that the petitioner is a government servant. There is no question of running away. Therefore, he is entitled to get bail.
