Brussels: European Union leaders have sent a clear message to America’s newly elected President Donald Trump regarding Ukraine. At a meeting of EU leaders here, they pledged to continue support for Ukraine. Ukrainian President Zelensky was also present in this conference. Along with this, economic and defense related issues were also discussed in this conference. Especially after Donald Trump assumed power, the economic challenges faced by European countries due to his new tariff policy were also considered.
The draft resolution on the outcome of this conference also guarantees continued support for the war in Ukraine, no matter how it plays out.
Trump has repeatedly talked about immediately ending this war that has been going on for almost 3 years. But it was never said how it would end. Trump has also urged Zelensky to deal with Putin. But he has also suggested giving some part to Russia. Which Zelensky is not ready to accept.
Along with this, there is also a concrete reality that Russia has currently occupied 20 percent of Ukraine’s area. The Russians are also advancing from the east.
While European leaders have said that Russia should not succeed. Not only this, to prepare a role for reconciliation in Ukraine war, the opinion of Ukraine will have to be known first. No steps should be taken without Zelensky’s presence.
Trump is also angry on this. He says, ‘If European countries do not buy American goods, they will have to pay a heavy price.’
Trump has already said that America is going to impose heavy tariffs on its three trading partners Canada, Mexico and China.
Canada has been most disappointed by this statement of Trump. Because 70 percent of its total exports are to America.
On the other hand, the countries of the European Union have announced to stand in solidarity. Because they fear that Trump may make some kind of agreement with one country after another.
