Company registration declined by 3.7 percent in the first month of the new financial year

New Delhi: Company registrations declined by 3.7 per cent year-on-year in the first month (April) of FY2025, partly due to higher base effect following the increase in investment during FY2024. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the incorporation of Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) witnessed a significant growth of 36 per cent year-on-year.

In April of the current financial year, 15,982 companies were registered, which was 16,599 last year. In contrast, LLP registrations increased to 5,896 from 4,335 in April last year. Notably, April 2023 saw a growth of 4 per cent, when LLP enrollments increased significantly.

During FY2014, there were over 185,000 company registrations in the country, representing an increase of 16.3 per cent more companies and 62.7 per cent more LLPs compared to the previous year. According to official data, about 16,600 companies were established in the month of March this year.

This status was created because of the record incorporation's attitude and efforts to reduce burdens and promote a business-friendly environment. The extraordinary number of company incorporations in FY2014 may create a higher base effect for calculating growth in the current fiscal year.
