The Botswana government said that this is the largest diamond discovered in the southern African state. As soon as the diamond was found, the shares of Lucara, the company that discovered it, jumped by 40%.
Lucara said in a statement that the stone is one of the largest rough diamonds ever found. Lucara chief William Lamb said: “We are delighted with the discovery of this extraordinary 2,492 carat diamond.
