Company Commander of Sanchu Outpost Shyam Sundar Singh passes away during Indo-Pak 1965 war

Bikaner, 29 October (Hindustan Reporter). War hero Shyam Sundar Singh, who was the company commander of Sanchu Outpost during the India-Pakistan war of 1965, passed away on Tuesday. Shyam Sundar, father of Pushpendra Singh Rathod, who recently retired from the post of Inspector General from Bikaner Sector of Border Security Force, has had a glorious career. Fought bravely in the Indo-Pak war of 1965 as the Company Commander of Sanchu Outpost as well as in the Indo-Pak war of 1971. Shyam Sundar, popularly known as “Major Saheb” among kite flyers, founded the Mehfil Kite Club in 1958 and retired as Deputy Commandant, Distinguished Service, in the Border Security Force (BSF). He was awarded the Eastern Star Medal

⁠Western Star Medal, honors and awards have been received.

His son Pushpendra Singh said his legacy will live on through touching countless lives. He had the honor of developing Sanchu as a public tourist destination, which is a testament to his indispensable legacy.
