Vegetarian food in train: After Navratri, on the occasion of Chhath festival, pure vegetarian breakfast and snacks are provided to the passengers in railway stations and trains. Food is being served. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has banned non-vegetarian food in base kitchens, train pantry cars and station stalls. So that even during train journey, people can freely enjoy pure vegetarian breakfast and food.
IRCTC is planning to run this system till Kartik Purnima. Tourists coming for Chhath festival can enjoy vegetarian food while going back. In this regard, IRCTC management has given instructions to the concerned supervisors. The management said that all base kitchen monitoring staff and station officials will ensure that only vegetarian food is served to passengers in Puja special trains.
Women remain conscious about food and drink while traveling in train
Women remain conscious about their eating habits even while traveling in the train, this tradition continues till the end of Chhath festival. Most people abstain from non-vegetarian food till Kartik Purnima. Even during Navratri, IRCTC ensures provision of vegetarian snacks and meals with fruits for passengers in trains. Now Jain food (garlic-onion free food) is being arranged in semi high speed trains.
Chhath festival is now being celebrated with faith and belief throughout the country. It is a great festival for the residents of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, especially Purvanchal. Migrants living in Delhi, Punjab, Maharashtra and Gujarat etc. start fasting as soon as they leave home to celebrate Chhath.
