Jammu, August 21 (HS). The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday set up command and control centers in Jammu and Srinagar for the upcoming assembly elections. These centers have been set up in the offices of the Chief Electoral Officer to prevent the spread of misinformation and maintain the integrity of the electoral process during the model code of conduct. Round-the-clock control rooms have also been started in the offices of all 20 deputy commissioners.

An official statement from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer said that the Model Code of Conduct came into force in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday with the announcement of the schedule for the assembly elections in the Union Territory. The assembly elections will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1. The counting of votes will take place on October 4. The statement said that the command and control centers equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure will keep a close watch on all election-related activities and ensure prompt action, including any suspected case of fake news.

Apart from electronic channels, the Command and Control Center is also keeping a close watch on social media channels and media portals and accounts, the statement said. Chief Electoral Officer P K Pole has appealed to all citizens and political parties to follow the guidelines issued to maintain the sanctity of the democratic process in the Union Territory.
