Comedy film Vibe explodes at the box office: Kunal Kemmu beats Kareena’s ‘Daira’ and collects crores of rupees on the first day

There has been a major upset in the high-voltage clash in theaters on Friday, where director Anshul Talwar’s light-hearted comedy-drama and spy-thriller film ‘Vibe’ has registered a strong impact at the ticket window. On the basis of tremendous curiosity and positive reviews created among the audience on the very first day, ‘Vibe’ has left Bollywood’s A-lister actress Kareena Kapoor Khan’s much awaited and serious film ‘Daayra’ behind in direct competition. This film, adorned with a unique flavor of humor and espionage, is forcing the audience to laugh, the direct effect of which is clearly visible on its first day ticket collection.

According to the initial report of cinematic data tracking portal Sacknilk, the equation of the first day of the box office has been very shocking. While there was a buzz about Kareena Kapoor Khan’s gritty crime thriller ‘Daira’ for a long time, it opened its account with a paltry collection of just ₹1 crore at the domestic box office on its first day. In sharp contrast, ‘Vibe’ starring Kunal Kemmu and Preity Zinta in the lead roles recorded an impressive nett business of ₹1.7 crore on the first day despite limited promotions and tough competition. The gross domestic collection of the film has crossed ₹ 2 crores, which proves that the audience has reached the theaters in a stress-free mood at the beginning of the weekend and is in a laughing mood.

Film distributors and multiplex chains had released ‘Vibe’ with a total of 3,194 shows across the country. Although the occupancy rate remained moderate in the early morning shows, a huge crowd of family viewers flocked to the multiplexes during the afternoon and evening hours. Trade analysts believe that Friday’s opening of ₹1.7 crore may not look as huge as a mega-budget blockbuster, but the way the film is getting positive word-of-mouth from critics and the general public on social media, there is every possibility of a big jump of 60 to 70 percent in the Saturday and Sunday figures.

Directed by Anshul Talwar, the basic storyline of ‘Vibe’ is a great blend of action and situational comedy. The film revolves around two very ordinary and fun-loving friends, whose normal life gets disrupted due to an unexpected incident. This unexpected situation brings them into the dangerous world of international espionage and undercover agents. The two friends are forced to carry out a top secret mission related to the security of the country, where their rookie antics, strange spy tactics and the humor created in life-threatening situations keep the audience engaged till the end.

The biggest USP of the film is its brilliant and diverse casting lineup. Kunal Khemu, known for his effortless comic timing in comic roles, has brought the lead character to life, while the screen presence of Preity Zinta, who returned to the big screen after a long gap, adds freshness to the film. ‘Missing Ladies’ fame Sparsh Srivastava has once again proved his acting ability. Along with them, Bhojpuri cinema superstar Dinesh Lal Yadav alias Nirahua, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore and character actor Yashpal Sharma have added weight to their respective characters in the story. This entertaining project has been jointly produced by actors Kunal Khemu and Chirag Nihalani.
