Dhamtari, 19 February (HS). On the special initiative of Collector Namrata Gandhi, the farmers market of the district has been revived. The Collector reached the farmers market at 7 am on February 19 and started the farmers market by purchasing vegetables from vegetable seller Neelam Patel, resident of Hatkeshar, and became the first customer. A few years ago, the farmers market was closed as soon as the collector was changed.
Addressing the inauguration program, the Collector said that the success of any scheme depends on the initiative of the people and officials of the area. This farmers market has been restarted on the demand of the district residents. The produce will be sold in this market without the use of chemical fertilizers, due to which we will get pure and fresh vegetables at low prices every day. Along with this, he urged the farmers to adopt other cash crops and crop diversification instead of paddy. The program was addressed by former MLA Inder Chand Chopra, Municipal Corporation Leader of Opposition Narendra Rohra, MP representative Umesh Sahu and other public representatives. On the first day, 45 people from around the district got themselves registered and 37 people set up their shops.

Collector Namrata Gandhi inspected the farmers market premises and discussed with the vendors who came to sell vegetables. During this, the Collector looked at the solar cold storage installed in the premises and gave instructions for its necessary repairs. He also instructed the officers to make fencing and security arrangements to prevent any kind of damage in the premises from anti-social elements. Along with this, officials were asked to pay special attention to parking, water, electricity and cleanliness in the campus.
Registration and certificate distributed
During the program, registration certificates were given to the farmers coming to sell their vegetables in the farmers market. At the same time, certificates were also given to the farmers who had rendered excellent services and participation in the farmers market in the past.
