With the onset of winter, cases of heart related problems are increasing rapidly among the youth. According to doctors, shrinking of veins and increasing pressure on the heart during cold weather are the main causes of these problems. The incidence of heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems among youth aged 20 to 35 is worrying. According to the Heart Disease Institute, about 200 patients are coming every day who have never had any heart related problem before.
In winter, cold has a direct effect on the nerves of the body. The veins in the arms and legs shrink, blocking blood flow to the heart and putting extra pressure on the heart. Cardiologists say that blood pressure is more likely to increase in cold, which can increase the risk of heart attack. Apart from this, irregular daily routine, junk food, smoking, alcohol consumption and lack of exercise are also becoming the main causes of heart related problems among the youth.
Ways to keep heart healthy:
Wear warm clothes: Wear warm clothes that completely cover the body to reduce the effect of cold on the nerves.
Eat a balanced diet: Include ghee, almonds, walnuts and foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids in your diet. Avoid fried and junk food.
Exercise: Do 30 minutes of light exercise every day. It helps in increasing heart function and controlling blood pressure.
Avoid intoxicants: Smoking and alcohol consumption have a bad effect on heart health.
avoid stress: Stress increases the risk of heart attack, so make yoga and meditation a part of your daily routine.
Monitor blood pressure: Check your blood pressure and cholesterol regularly in winter.
