Coco Gauff of the United States out of Paris Games after argument with chair umpire

American young player Coco Gauff, who was considered a strong contender for the gold medal, had to pay a heavy price for the wrong decision given by the chair umpire during the match and she was out of the Paris Olympics.

Coco Gauff argued with the umpire but was ignored. In the women's singles match, 13th seed Donna Vekic defeated Gauff 7-6 (7), 6-2. In other matches, Angelique Cabre, playing her last Olympics, defeated 16th seed Leila Fernandez of Canada 6-4, 6-3, while sixth seed Qinwen Zheng defeated Ima Navarro 6-7 (7), 7-6 (4) after the first two sets went to tiebreakers, and Danielle Collins advanced her campaign by beating Camila Osorio 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.
