CM Yogi’s special message to the people of the state on Guru Purnima, know why Guru-shishya tradition was called the real strength of the country.

On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has extended hearty congratulations and best wishes to the people of the state. On this special occasion, CM Yogi issued a special letter giving the message to the society to maintain respect for the spiritual importance of Guru, the priceless heritage of Sanatan culture and teachers. The Chief Minister said that Guru Purnima is not just a religious festival, but it is a holy day to pay unwavering devotion, highest respect and gratitude towards our guides and gurus.

Mythological heritage of Maharishi Vedvyas and Sanatan

In his message, the Chief Minister clarified that this festival of Guru Purnima is celebrated with reverence in the memory of the great sage Maharishi Vedvyas, who imparted the divine knowledge of the Vedas to the entire mankind. Referring to mythological references, he said that Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram had received initiation from Guru Vashishtha and Yogeshwar Lord Shri Krishna had received initiation in the ashram of Guru Sandipani. This historical tradition proves how essential the guidance of a Guru is for success in life, character building and setting high ideals.

Symbol of equality of all religions and universal consciousness

CM Yogi stressed that this festival of Guru Purnima is not limited to any one religion or sect, rather it is a symbol of the spiritual consciousness of the entire humanity. In Buddhist tradition, it is remembered with respect as the memorial day of Lord Buddha’s first sermon i.e. ‘Dharmachakra Pravartan’. At the same time, in Jainism, it is associated with the initiation of knowledge of Gautam Swami, the chief disciple of Lord Mahavir, and in the Sikh tradition, ‘Guru’ and ‘Guru-Vani’ have been given the highest place.

Respect for teachers is the basis of a prosperous society

Talking about the role of teachers, the Chief Minister said that the society in which gurus and teachers are given full respect, reaches new heights of development. The main goal of the state government is to empower every section of the society by providing quality education. He underlined that during the last 9 years, the Government has kept the respect, safety and empowerment of teachers at its top priority, because a strong and developed India cannot be imagined without Gurus.
