Gorakshpeethadhishwar and Chief Minister and Yogi Adityanath performed Mahanisha puja and havan as per the tradition of Gorakshpeeth as per the tradition of Gorakshpeeth, in honor of Maha Ashtami date of Shardiya Navratri late on Thursday evening. Before the Mahanisha puja ritual, he worshiped Mahagauri Mata, the eighth form of Mother Adishakti, the mother of the world, amidst Vedic mantras.
On the holy festival of Shardiya Navratri, Gorakshpeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath completed the special ritual of Mahanisha Puja in the Shaktipeeth of Gorakhnath temple in honor of Ashtami Tithi and prayed for the welfare of the people. The Chief Minister, who reached Gorakhpur from Devipatan Shaktipeeth on Thursday morning, after worshiping Guru Gorakhnath in the Gorakhnath temple, went to the tomb of his Gurudev Brahmalin Mahant Avedyanath and paid obeisance. Late in the evening he participated in Mahanisha puja. CM Yogi will remain engaged in the worship of Shakti at Gorakshbhoomi till Kanya Puja on Friday morning in honor of Navami Tithi and special worship of Shrinath ji on Dashami Tithi on Saturday and the traditional Vijayadashami procession coming out from Gorakshpeeth.
The ritual of Mahanisha puja started in the Shaktipeeth of Gorakhnath temple late on Thursday evening under the leadership of Gorakshpeethadhishwar and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In the ritual that lasted for more than two hours, Gorakshpeethadhishwar performed Gauri Ganesh worship, Varun worship, Peetha worship, Yantra worship, proper worship of Maa Durga, Shodashopachar worship of Lord Ram-Lakshman-Sita, worship of Lord Krishna and Gomata, Navagraha worship, Vilva worship. Worshiped the presiding deity, worshiped weapons, worshiped twelve Jyotirlinga-Ardhanarishwar and Shiva-Shakti, worshiped Vatuk Bhairav, Kaal Bhairav, Trishul mountain. At the same time, worshiped Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra and Agni deity on the altar of Havan and by cutting the barley plants growing on the altar established in the Shaktipeeth, prayed to Adishakti Maa Durga for the auspiciousness of the people. The ritual of Mahanisha Puja was completed by performing Havan by Gorakshpeethadhishwar. The entire ritual was concluded with recitation of Durga Saptsati and Vedic mantras. In the end, after aarti and apology, prasad was distributed. On this occasion, a large number of devotees of Gorakhnath temple including the head priest of the temple Yogi Kamal Nath, Mahamandaleshwar Santosh Das alias Satua Baba who came from Kashi were present.

Gorakshpeethadhishwar and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will worship Maa Siddhidatri, the ninth form of Goddess Durga, on the Mahanavmi date of Shardiya Navratri on Friday morning at the Shaktipeeth of his residence in Gorakhnath temple. After that the ritual of Kanya Puja will take place. On this occasion, Gorakshpeethadhishwar will wash the feet of virgin girls and offer them worship with devotion. Will feed them and give them Dakshina and gifts. During this time, Batuk Puja will also be performed as per tradition.
