CM Yogi pays tribute to Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant on his 139th birth anniversary, pays tribute to his contribution


Lucknow, 10 September. On the 139th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, the great freedom fighter, former Home Minister of the country and the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute by offering flowers at his statue. On this occasion, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the memories of Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant by mentioning his contribution in the freedom movement, nation building and development of Uttar Pradesh.

The Chief Minister said that today is the holy birth anniversary of the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Pandit Govind Vallabh Pant ji. On this occasion, on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government and the people of the state, he pays homage to the memories of Pant ji and pays humble tribute to him.

Strongly advocated for the revolutionaries of Kakori
The Chief Minister said that Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant was a great advocate as well as a prominent freedom fighter. Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant was prominent among the great leaders who strongly advocated for the revolutionaries against the charges filed against the revolutionaries by the British Government after the Kakori Train Action in 1925. He actively participated in the country’s freedom movement.

CM Yogi said that in the year 1937, Pant ji was elected as the Premier of UP, but after some time he resigned from the post and continued his active role in the freedom movement. He played an important role in various major movements of the freedom struggle that took place from time to time, including the Quit India Movement.

Laid the foundation of good governance as the first Chief Minister
The Chief Minister said that with the independence of the country in 1947, Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant became the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. At that time Uttarakhand was also a part of Uttar Pradesh. In such a situation, along with presenting the system of such a big state as a model of good governance, he also worked for economic upliftment and the interests of every section of the society. Pant ji made many important reforms. The land reform model presented by him was also important.

Played an important role as Home Minister
CM Yogi said that in the year 1954, Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant became the Home Minister of the country. As Home Minister, he wisely resolved the ongoing linguistic conflict within the country and the efforts to lay the foundation of new divisions in the society. He also played an important role in establishing Hindi as the official language.
