CM Yogi expressed grief over the demise of former Mahant of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple

Varanasi, June 26 (HS). State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has condoled the death of former head priest of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Dr Kulpati Tiwari. On Wednesday evening, the Chief Minister wrote on his social media account that the demise of former Mahant Kulpati Tiwari of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi is extremely sad. My humble tribute to him.

My condolences are with the bereaved family. May Baba Shri Vishwanath Ji grant the soul a place in his lotus feet and give the bereaved family the strength to bear this immense sorrow, this is my prayer. Om Shanti.

Let us tell you that the head priest of Kashi Vishwanath temple, Dr. Kulpati Tiwari passed away in the afternoon. At the age of 73, he breathed his last during treatment in a private hospital in Ravindrapuri. His last rites will be performed at Manikarnika Ghat. The funeral procession will leave for Manikarnika Ghat from his residence in Tedhinim at 8 pm. His only son Pt. Vachaspati Tiwari will perform the last rites.

Dr. Kulpati Tiwari did his PhD from BHU in 1980 on the worship tradition of Kashi Vishwanath temple. He received the Mahantship from his father Pandit Kailashpati Tiwari in 1993. Since then, he used to perform all the traditions of Kashi Vishwanath temple. After the acquisition of Vishwanath temple in 1983, he had to go to jail for opposing government policies.
