The flood situation in Assam is now gradually improving. The number of affected people in 11 districts of the state has come down to 95 thousand. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said that he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A review meeting was held regarding the flood situation.

During the meeting, I briefed him about the flood situation in Assam and the various efforts being made to mitigate the challenges faced by our people. The status of the ongoing development works was also discussed. On behalf of the people of Assam, I once again extend my hearty congratulations to him for his historic third term.
So far 98 people have lost their lives
The death toll from floods this year has reached 98, while 113 people have lost their lives so far due to floods, landslides, storms and lightning. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) bulletin, the affected people are from 345 villages in 21 revenue circles. The affected districts include Morigaon, Kamrup, Dhemaji, Kamrup Metropolitan, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Nagaon, Golaghat, Goalpara, Jorhat and Cachar.
These districts are most affected
The worst affected district was Nagaon. Around 70,280 people were affected here. It was followed by Golaghat (12,321) and Cachar (6,773). As of Saturday, the number of people affected in 10 districts was 1.30 lakh. More than 6,467.5 hectares of crop land also submerged in flood waters. A total of 6,311 people have taken shelter in 35 relief camps.
