Gujarat: As the water level in Sardar Sarovar Dam has risen as a result of extensive rains in the upstream of Narmada Dam, this water will be released into the reservoirs of Saurashtra. The state government has pre-planned to supply Narmada water to a total of 40 reservoirs in Surendranagar, Rajkot, Morbi, Botad, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar and Amreli districts of Saurashtra through 4 pipelines of various SAUNI schemes.

Water will be supplied to the reservoirs of Saurashtra

  • Currently, 1 thousand 300 cusecs of water has been added to this reservoir through these pipelines. This will be increased to 2000 cusecs of water in these reservoirs of Saurashtra in the coming days.
  • If the rain continues, under the direction of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, a plan has been made to fill about 600 check dams/lakes in these districts. At present, priority is being given to those reservoirs which are reserved for drinking water supply.
  • Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has taken an important decision to provide Narmada water to the farmers and citizens of North Gujarat.

Water level increased in Sardar Sarovar Dam

  • Extensive rains upstream of the Narmada Dam have resulted in rising water levels in the Sardar Sarovar Dam, this water will be released into the lakes of North Gujarat.
  • The state government, under the direction of the Chief Minister, has made advance plans to supply Narmada water through 13 different pipelines to a total of 952 lakes in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana and Sabarkantha districts of North Gujarat.
  • At present, 1000 cusecs of water has been started to reach these lakes through these pipelines, which will be gradually increased to 2400 cusecs in the next few days.
