The delegation including MLA Savana apprised the Punjab Chief Minister of the problem and said that during the tenure of 2007, a policy was made by the government that the farmers of the border area should be given ownership rights of the land on which they were growing crops.
But later in 2012, on the orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, the policy of granting land rights in 2007 was canceled. Apart from this, the Chief Minister was also informed about the solution of problems related to other border areas.
The delegation asked the Chief Minister of Punjab to re-implement or consider the policy of granting land rights so that the farmers of the border area do not face any problem in growing crops and are suffering from various diseases etc., hence, considering the sympathy of the border people, a separate package will be considered for them.
