The young man of Indian origin was a student of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He was missing since late night. His location was coming around the university but he could not be found. Then the next day his body was found in an area near the university campus. Seeing which everyone was shocked.
According to the report, 18-year-old Indian student Akul Dhawan had gone out to drink alcohol with his friends at 11.30 pm on January 20. For this he decided to go to Canopy Club near the campus but the staff did not allow Akul to enter the club. He tried to go to the club several times but the staff refused to let him in while his friends continued to go to the club.
Akul was waiting for them outside. When his friends came out of the club late, he called Akul but when there was no answer, he started searching for Akul. When Akul was not found for a long time, one of his friends informed the university police. University police reached the spot and started searching for Akul but he was not found. Then the next day, a university employee informed police and medical services that a man's body had been found behind the building.
When the police reached the spot, they found that the body was not that of anyone else but Akul. His body was found about 400 feet (122 m) from the club. How Akul died remained a mystery for many days. Now this matter has been revealed. The Champaign County Coroner's Office in Illinois said in the case that the Indian-American student died of hypothermia after being under the influence of alcohol and being exposed to cold temperatures for a long time.
Akul died of hypothermia

Case registered against university police
Akul's parents Rish and Ritu Dhawan have filed a case of negligence against the university police. He says that if he had gone out to find Akul at the right time, his life might have been saved. The police was negligent in this matter. Akul's body was found 10 hours after he was reported missing. If the police had searched properly, he would have been found, because the police found Akul's body about 400 feet inside the club, so they did not search for Akul properly. Akul's parents said that we could feel how much their child must have been suffering from cold at that time.
He told that Akul had turned 18 in September last year. He wanted to study in America but they did not want their son to go abroad now but despite the opposition of his parents, he enrolled in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department of Illinois to study robotics. Akul's parents said that due to the negligence of the university police, the lamp of their family was extinguished.
