To get their old and pending demands accepted, the Safai Karamcharis demonstrated under the banner of Nagar Palika Karamchari Sangh on Thursday and gave a demand letter to the Municipal Commissioner in the name of the local Urban Bodies Minister. In the morning, the Safai Karamcharis associated with the union gathered at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium on Barnala Road. From there, raising slogans, they left for the Mini Secretariat.

Raising slogans in the heat, the sanitation workers reached the Mini Secretariat. There, they handed over a demand letter addressed to the minister to the Municipal Commissioner. It is written in the demand letter that the agreement between the union and the government should be implemented. The contracts of sanitation, sewer, fire, water supply, M.E. branch, civil work, office work and manpower, O.&M door to door should be terminated and the employees should be rolled over. The employees working on contract in various departments should be made permanent by making a policy. The Municipal Commissioner listened to all the demands of the employees carefully and assured that the letter of their demands would be sent to the government.
