Clash between producers over the budget of Ranbir-Sai Pallavi's 'Ramayana'

Mumbai: The decision to make the film 'Ramayana' starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash in three parts with a budget of Rs 500 crore has created an uproar among the producers. It is said that the film's casting and pre-production preparations slowed down as a producer left the project saying he could not invest too much.

Nitesh Tiwari has been making this film for a long time. Earlier Madhu Mantena was co-producer with him. But Madhu created a stir by saying that such a big budget is not commercially viable. Ultimately Madhu returned his investment. Now Nitesh Tiwari is looking for another financier. According to reports, a profit sharing agreement has been signed with a company which will do the VFX of the film.

Earlier, Nitish Tiwari had said that heavy VFX will not be used in the film like 'Brahmastra' but instead the focus will be on the emotional aspects of the characters in the film. However, later it was decided to make the film in three parts. It was planned that the first part would cover only the story till Sita Haran and the second part would cover only the story till Ram Setu and the third part would show the events of the Lankan War. Due to this, the budget of everything including VFX increased manifold.

Recently Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' got unimaginable success. However, on the other hand, 'Adipurush' based on Ramayana of a hero like Prabhas who became famous abroad with 'Baahubali' series was a flop. Thus, since there is no guarantee of success in Bollywood, there is a struggle among producers to maintain the budget limit.
