On the issue of allotting space for the memorial of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress leader Rajesh Thakur said, ‘It is very sad and no politics should be done on this issue… It is condemnable that people who served the country Is. A small space is being allotted to the Prime Minister, he is not coming…”
Congress MP and party Punjab chief Amarinder Singh Raja Wedding said, “We are demanding the government to provide space for the memorial. If Atal Bihari Vajpayee can be given a place, then why not Manmohan Singh? He is the leader of the country.” He was the only Sikh Prime Minister…When the memorial is built, it will inspire future generations…”
On the allegations of Congress leaders, BJP said that Congress should stop dirty politics on the death of Dr. Singh. “Congress should remember how it treated former Prime Minister Narasimha Raoji after his death,” a party statement said.
Cremation at Nigambodh Ghat
Former PM of the country Dr. Manmohan Singh has died at the age of 92 in Delhi AIIMS. His mortal remains were kept at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters for an hour from 8.30 am today for viewing by the public and Congress workers. His last rites are being performed with full state honors at Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi on Saturday at 11.45 am.
