With the beginning of the monsoon session of Parliament, political and social activities have once again reached its peak in the country’s capital Delhi. In view of the ‘Chalo Sansad March’ announced by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) today, Monday, July 20, 2026, the entire New Delhi has been transformed into an impregnable fortress. Delhi Police has issued a high alert to deal with any untoward situation and maintain law and order. From a reporter’s point of view, this security arrangement is one of the tightest siege in recent times, because the police do not want to allow any protestor to move towards the country’s most sensitive high-security zone i.e. Parliament House without prior permission.
Strict order from Delhi Police: No permission given for march
Senior officials of Delhi Police and New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sachin Sharma have publicly clarified on social media handle ‘X’ that neither any official permission was sought from the police department regarding this march of CJP nor any such journey or procession has been given permission. He has said in clear words that any kind of march without administrative permission will be considered completely illegal. Police have banned any kind of gathering in New Delhi division except Jantar Mantar.
Section 163 of BNSS implemented, complete ban on these activities
From security point of view, Delhi Police has implemented Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) (which was earlier Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code i.e. CrPC) in the entire New Delhi district. Under this strict order, the following restrictions are in effect with immediate effect:

Ban on gathering: There is a complete ban on gathering or forming groups of 5 or more persons in any public place.

Inciting speeches and sloganeering: Raising any kind of slogan, giving public speech or sitting on dharna is prohibited within the boundaries of the district.

Carrying weapons and banners prohibited: There is a strict ban on carrying sticks, sticks, banners, placards or any kind of sharp weapons on public roads. Legal action will be taken against those who violate this order by filing a case under Section 223 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).
More than 5,000 soldiers and water cannons deployed, keeping a close watch on entry points
Heavy police force is on standby at Jantar Mantar and all the main intersections around Parliament House (like Sansad Marg, Central Vista, Connaught Place and Shankar Chowk) since 4 am on Monday. To strengthen the security arrangements, more than 5,000 personnel of Delhi Police as well as paramilitary forces and rapid response teams have been deployed.
Water cannons and Vajra vehicles have been deployed at strategic locations to control the crowd. Intensive checking of every vehicle entering the borders of Delhi and New Delhi is being done. Intelligence agencies and the Special Branch of Delhi Police are sending reports every hour about the number of protesters present at Jantar Mantar and their activities to senior officials.
Protestors adamant on demand of paper leak and resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan
Actually, this whole controversy has started regarding the alleged irregularities and paper leak cases of the recent NEET examination in the country. CJP and his supporters are adamant on this issue, demanding accountability in the country’s education system and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Social activist Sonam Wangchuk, admitted in Safdarjung Hospital, had also issued a message from the hospital appealing to the youth and students to make this march successful, after which the security in Delhi had to be increased to this level. The police have also appealed to the general public not to be part of any unauthorized crowd and cooperate with the police in maintaining peace.
