The Supreme Court completed 75 years of its establishment on Monday. On that occasion, a week-long special Lok Adalat has been organized. Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud is also happy and satisfied on this occasion.

He said that judges get the greatest satisfaction in helping litigants reach an amicable solution to their disputes. Lok Adalats are organized with the intention of settling long pending disputes amicably. In the meeting held before the start of Lok Adalat, the CJI told about one of his interesting cases.

The couple said they were filing a divorce petition in a family court in Patiala House Court. In this case, the wife filed a petition against the husband demanding alimony and custody of the child. Explaining the importance of Lok Adalat for settling cases by mutual agreement, he said that the husband and wife had decided by mutual agreement that they would withdraw their respective cases filed in the local courts and live together. The husband asked him if he would have to come to the Supreme Court again after withdrawing the case? The CJOI assured him that there was no need to come back.
