Civil society organizations of Bihar assured cooperation in ending child marriage.

Patna, 26 October (HS). After the new guidelines of the Supreme Court for the prevention of child marriage, the civil society organizations of Bihar, equipped with new energy, have promised to provide all possible support to all the efforts of the state government to end it.

While talking to journalists, promising all possible cooperation in the efforts of Bihar government, Just Rights for Children Alliance convenor Ravi Kant said that child marriage is rape of children. It takes away children's rights and freedom. Alliance partners are working to end this crime but our resolve has been strengthened by the Supreme Court guidelines.

Ravikant said that JRCA will extend all possible cooperation and support to the state government to fulfill its resolve to eliminate this heinous crime from Bihar by 2030. It is a matter of great pride for us that India is at the forefront of the fight to end this heinous crime and that its policies and judicial decisions have set an example for the world.

Mukhtarul Haq of the Association for Voluntary Action echoed this sentiment, saying, “We are witness to how coordination and convergence of efforts of all stakeholders, awareness and education are the keys to creating an environment where child marriage The scope ends. We all are working on these fronts and now the Supreme Court has also underlined its importance. We are confident that with immediate and effective implementation of these guidelines, we will reach the tipping point of ending child marriage before 2030.

Addressing a press conference, Jitendra Kumar Singh, Chief Coordinating Officer of Prayas JAC Society, said that this is a historic decision which will pave the way for the elimination of child marriage from India. This decision has held everyone accountable and ensured that everyone from the Panchayat to the police understand their role and responsibility in eradicating this crime. We stand with the state government and will help it in whatever way possible.

It is noteworthy that while hearing the petition of coalition partners of Child Marriage Free India (CMFI) campaign, the Supreme Court in a historic judgment on October 18 issued detailed guidelines for prevention of child marriage with emphasis on mobilization of rural communities. These guidelines laid down the accountability of Panchayats, schools and child marriage prohibition officers for prevention of child marriage with emphasis on empowerment of children, protection of their rights, sex education and community centric approach.
