CIK raids in Anantnag and Kulgam, digital equipment recovered

Srinagar: The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday conducted raids at four different locations in District Jail Mattan in Anantnag and Sonigam and Chawalgam in Kulgam district. During this operation, the police have recovered some cellphones, tablets and other digital devices. However, no arrest or detention has been confirmed yet.

Campaign to eliminate terrorist network

According to police officials, the raid was part of a campaign to eliminate terrorists and their ecosystem. Information was received that some terrorists lodged in the district jail at Mattan and their overground workers (OGW) are in touch with the handlers sitting inside the valley and across the border. These people were playing an active role in conducting terrorist activities in the valley and in recruiting new people.

Search operation in jail and houses

After the permission of the court, the CIK team conducted raids in Mattan jail and Sonigam and Chawalgam in Kulgam.

  • Mattan Jail: The team searched the barracks of the jail and interrogated some terrorists and overground workers lodged there.
  • Sonigam and Chavalgam: A search operation was conducted in the houses of three old overground workers here and the suspects were interrogated.

According to the police spokesperson, cellphones, tablets and other digital devices were recovered during the search. These devices are being investigated so that information about the network of terrorists and their activities can be obtained. A few days ago also, CIK and State Investigation Agency (SIA) had conducted a search operation in the Central Jail of Srinagar.

Chargesheet filed against 6 terrorist facilitators in Doda

Meanwhile, in Doda district, the police have taken strict action against the terrorists and their helpers. Police have filed chargesheet in the NIA court against a Pakistani terrorist and six overground workers in two separate cases.

SSP Doda Sandeep Mehta said:

“All the terrorists and their helpers active in the district have been identified and strict legal action is being taken against them. Our aim is to completely destroy the network of terrorists.”

Law and order and security first priority

The SSP said that his first responsibility is to ensure law and order and safety of common citizens. He also said that immediate action is being taken against those involved in anti-national activities and all necessary steps are being taken to punish them under the law.
