Ranchi: CID will now investigate the irregularities in the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination of Jharkhand State Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). After the order of the Chief Minister, DGP Anurag Gupta has handed over the responsibility of investigating the entire case to CID. On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded a CBI inquiry into this matter.

CID probe ordered after protests

The CGL exam was conducted for 2025 posts on September 21 and 22, in which 3.04 lakh candidates appeared at 823 centers across the state. The result of the examination has also been declared.

However, students started protesting over paper leaks and other irregularities during the examination.

  • The matter escalated due to continuous protests and agitations.
  • JSSC rejected all the allegations, yet the students’ protest was not stopping.

In view of this protest, the Chief Minister ordered a CID investigation, after which the DGP asked to start the investigation.

BJP accuses JSSC of influencing investigation

BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shahdev has made serious allegations against JSSC. He says that the Commission giving itself a clean chit by holding a press conference is an attempt to influence the investigation. He said:

“The Chief Minister has ordered a CID inquiry, but the JSSC press conference seems to be a direct attempt to influence the investigation.”

Demand for CBI investigation

BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev said that the Chief Minister should recommend a CBI investigation into the matter. He said:

“The email threats received by JSSC officials are extremely serious. There should be a high-level investigation into this and if necessary, security should be provided to the concerned officials.”

Question on suspicious action

Pratul Shahdev raised questions on the press conference of JSSC and said that:

“The Commission should have given the relevant information to the authorities during the CID investigation. “An attempt is being made to create public opinion and influence the investigation by holding a press conference.”
