Ranchi, March 1 (HS). A bail case related to the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) was heard in the Jharkhand High Court. During the hearing, DG CID Anurag Gupta was physically present in the court.
The court asked him how the government employee turned hostile during his testimony in the lower court. On this, Anurag Gupta made it clear to the court that departmental action would be recommended against that government employee. The High Court rejected the bail plea of accused Birsa Munda while directing the lower court of Ranchi to complete the trial of the case soon.
During the hearing, the court was told that the petitioner is a laborer who does the work of loading and unloading goods in the vehicle. Tenth Fall police had caught him in a drug raid. 1640 kg of doda was recovered from the vehicle. Case number 13/2021 dated May 21, 2021 was registered in Dasham Fall police station regarding the matter.
During the hearing, the court was told that during the testimony in the Ranchi Civil Court, the defense side asked the tenth fall watchman and he said that he was not on duty that day, he was on leave, whereas according to the FIR, the seizure list was prepared. That watchman's name was there in it. The watchman had not identified him as a member of this red team of police. Taking serious note of the government employee's refusal to testify during his deposition, the High Court had summoned the DG CID.
