Amritsar: CIA Rural Police team has arrested three smugglers involved in heroin smuggling. Six kilos of heroin, drug money worth Rs 1.70 lakh, a Bullet motorcycle and a CT 110 motorcycle have been recovered from the smugglers. The three smugglers have been identified as Mandeep Singh alias Gora, Harbhaj Singh resident of Chogawan Lopoke and Lakhveer Singh alias Lakha resident of Kotha Guru police station Dayalpura district Bathinda.
The accused was doing the business of heroin smuggling for a long time. Police have registered a case against all three and they will be produced in the court and remand will be taken. He is expected to make many revelations during remand.
DSP Inderjit Singh said that the CIA Rural Police team had received information on Thursday that the said smugglers were going to deliver the consignment of heroin. On the basis of this, the police blocked the road leading from Ajnala police station towards Kotli Amb. Meanwhile, the accused were coming on two motorcycles. Meanwhile, on the basis of suspicion, he was stopped and interrogated and 6 kg heroin and drug money worth Rs 1.70 lakh were recovered from him.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused had procured this heroin from Pakistan. This consignment was received by a smuggler from Ajnala and after that these three smugglers received this consignment from him. That smuggler is also being identified and will be arrested soon. He told that smuggler Mandeep Singh alias Gora has been engaged in this work for the last two years. Lakhbir Singh alias Lakha was engaged in this work for the last one year. Till now about seven-eight consignments have been sent here and there. The accused Lakkha had come here from Bathinda and was living here on rent. He had taken a room here on rent for the purpose of heroin smuggling. The accused are being interrogated further and many revelations are expected from them.
