Chinese coast guards attack Filipino boats in the South China Sea and loot their guns

Manila: A Philippine Navy spokesman today (Wednesday) expressed dismay that the Chinese coast guard boarded the boats of our sailors and also looted their guns. The Chinese jumped out with swords, spears and sticks. One of our sailors also lost his thumb in the fight.

This incident happened at the second Thomas Shoal (continental or continental shelf). An old steamer is deliberately placed on that continental shelf. Our sailors live on it.

For the past several years, there has been a dispute between the Philippines and China over the maritime area. According to international law, the sovereignty of any country is accepted up to 200 km from its coastline. Although the boats were in Philippine waters, China claims the entire South China Sea, so it says that any ship passing through there must take its permission. The Philippines, Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia filed a claim against China's claim in the Hague-based Permanent Court of Arbitration. Although they gave a decision against China, China does not consider it. It does as it pleases.

China D. China has also built artificial islands in the sea. Some of these are so large that even fighter planes can take off and land on them.

Philippines says that the shoal is within 200 km of our coast. Whereas China's Hainaut Island is 1000 km away from here. It is very far. Why can China claim this coastal area? This argument of Philippines was accepted by the World Court (Permanent Court of Arbitration). The entire claim against China was rejected, but China is misusing the World Court and doing as it pleases.
